[edit] Origin of the Name

Lars Umlaüt (August, 11th, 1971, Oslo, Norway) is a character from Guitar Hero. Umlaut is German for "altered sound", which is represented by the two dots (¨) above certain letters. Sometimes referred to as "rock dots", they can often be found over letters in heavy metal band/artist's names. (Such as Mötley Crüe). Lars' name is also a parody on this.

[edit] Trivia

  • It has been said that Lars Ümlaüt's name is a direct reference to Lars Ulrich of Metallica, and his character and persona were inspired by Dave Brockie of GWAR.
