It was in 1969 when he released Space Oddity, about an astronaut named Major Tom on a malfunctioning spaceship and his conversations to Ground Control. It was critically popular and started his success. For the album Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Bowie created the story of an alien who lands on Earth named Ziggy Stardust.
Bowie continued achieving success in the 70s and 80s, occasionally singing duets, such as with Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones to sing Dancing in the Street.
